    O Kwarteto: jazzy Brazilian strings from Spain

    O Kwarteto is a NYC- and Madrid-based female string quartet primarily dedicated to Brazilian music with jazz influence adapted to our instrumentation. We perform original arrangements of music from genres ranging from Samba and Forro (Luiz Gonzaga, Dominguinhos, Sivuca) to Chorinho (Jacob do Bandolim, Pixinguinha), MPB (Chico Buarque, Milton Nascimento, Dorival Caymmi) and Bossa Nova (Antonio Carlos Jobim).

    Our co-founders are Delaney Stockli (violin, Madrid), Ludovica Burtone (violin, NYC) and our core co-members Leonor Falcón Pasquali (viola, Barcelona) and Marta Roma (cello, Barcelona). The quartet has had the pleasure of performing in venues across NYC, Italy and Spain including the NY Botanical Garden, the Cell Theatre, Sala Versus (BCN), Loggia del Lionello (Udine) and more. Currently O Kwarteto is collaborating with the NY Philharmonic’s Very Young Composers series.

    The individual members of O Kwarteto have performed on world-renowned stages and at festivals across the US, Latin America, Europe and the Middle East for highly respected groups and musicians in an impressive range of styles.

    Spiral Trio: modern jazz piano

    Spiral Trio is modern jazz piano trio based in Athens Greece. Since 2012, when they first met, they have been constantly working on their sound through rehearsing and performing in clubs and festivals throughout Greece and other European countries. On 2017 they released their first album “Spiral Trio” by Greek label ANKh Music Productions, consisting mainly of jazz standards, and on 2022 they released their second album, “Broken Blue” by US label Odradek Records, which has received enthusiastic reviews internationally. 

    The three musicians formed Spiral Trio as a result of their need to work as a team and to experiment with modern jazz improvisation. With their experience in national and international scenes they have formed a clearly distinguished and recognizable sound as a group and as individuals. Their sound is characterized by the constant interplay which, in combination with the high level of their musical and improvisation skills bring to the music elements of surprise, variety in the creation of musical images and imagination in the narration.

    Pekka Pylkkänen Trio

    Born in 1964, saxophonist and composer Pekka Pylkkänen has been recognized as one of the stronger jazz artists and saxophonists in Europe. He has performed around the globe and been very successful not only in Europe, but also for example in Asia and South-America. He has collaborated with numerous prestigious artists in many countries, and continues to work as a soloist/leader, recording artist and educator throughout the world.

    During his earlier career he worked several years full-time with the ‘National Jazz Orchestra of Finland’ – UMO Jazz Orchestra, with which he also sometimes performed modern contemporary music, and was often featured as a soloist. Some of the guests for both UMO Jazz Orchestra and Espoo Big Band (another noteable jazz orchestra) included stars such as Maria Schneider, Joe Henderson, McCoy Tyner, Michael Abene, Mercer Ellington, Dee Dee Bridgewater, etc.

    As a leader he has performed in more than 60 countries in Europe, The Americas, all over Asia and also South Africa. He has appeared as a leader/soloist in around 2000 concerts during the last 15+ years, most of them outside Finland. His appearances range from clubs to concert halls and major festivals and TV concerts, such as Hong Kong Jazz Festival, Beijing Jazz Festival, Trondheim Jazz Festival, Copenhagen Jazz Festival, National Arts Festival (South Africa), Providencia Festival de Jazz (Santiago, Chile), Yokohama Jazz Promenade, Yarasum Jazz Festival, Beijing Concert Hall, The Spring Hall (Seoul/Korea), EBS, Pescara Jazz, Thailand Intern. Jazz Conference, etc

    In addition to his long career as a performing and composing artist, Pekka has led a significant career as an educator, having had several full-time positions in Finland, but also he has held clinics and master classes in more than 80 music universities/ conservatories and colleges around the world.

    He has been invited as and Artist-In-Residence in dozens of occasions in for example Finland, Italy, China, Malaysia, Brazil and Portugal as well as have lead numerous Summer Jazz Seminars in Italy as the artistic head.

    His earlier releases: ́Pekka Pylkkanen:Pekka’s Tube Factory ́ (1999) and ́Pekka Pylkkanen Tube Factory: Opaque ́ (2001) were released by Naxos Jazz, 3rd album ‘Pekka Pylkkanen Tube Factory:Listen! ́by Lumino Records and (Chinese market) Starsing Records, and 2020 release ‘Pylkkanen:Nu Bottega’ (with an Italian all-star line-up) by Challenge Records International, and the latest album ‘Pekka Pylkkanen & Eric Ineke’ also by Challenge Records (2022 June).

    He is a Vandoren artist, and represents Ken Okutsu Mouthpieces and Marmaduke Music accessories.

    Γεννημένη στη Νότια Αφρικη, μεγαλωμένη στην Ελλάδα και τα τελευταία χρόνια ζεί στη Νεα Υορκη, η βιολίστρια Μαρία Mανουσάκη είναι μια μουσικός με διεθνή παρουσία στο χώρο της τζαζ και world μουσικής.
    Σπούδασε με υποτροφία στο Βerklee College of Music της Βοστώνης.
    ‘Εχει εμφανιστεί σε φεστιβάλ και συναυλιακούς χώρους σε όλο τον κόσμο. Μεταξύ αυτών είναι το Perth Concert Hall στην Αυστραλια, το Frank Sinatra School of The Arts στη Νέα Υόρκη, στην τελετή λήξης των Μεσογειακών Αγώνων στην Πεσκάρα της Ιταλίας, στο Μέγαρο Μουσικής Αθήνας, στο Ζάππειο Μέγαρο, στο Θέατρο Badminton, επισης εχει εμφανιστεί στο Jazz at the Lincoln centre καθώς και στο Ντουμπάι όπου βρισκόταν για ενα χρονο και παρουσίασε τη μουσική της στα διεθνή φεστιβάλ κινηματογράφου του 2005 και 2006..Η Μαρία εμπνέεται απο τις Κρητικές της ρίζες και την αγάπη της για την τζαζ, για να δημιουργήσει τις νέες συνθέσεις της, το άλμπουμ της Sole voyage πωλείται online στο cdbaby.

    Nektarios Kostakis

    Γεννήθηκε στα Χανιά. Σπούδασε Βυζαντινή μουσική στην Εκκλησιαστική σχολή Κρήτης και επίσης θεωρία & αρμονία κλασσικής μουσικής στο Βενιζέλειο ωδείο Χανίων.Παίζει λαούτο & άλλα όργανα. Απο την ηλικία των 18 ετών μέχρι σήμερα έχει πλαισιώσει δεκάδες καλλιτέχνες της δημοτικής παραδοσιακής μουσικής καθώς και της ευρύτερης Ελληνικής μουσικής σκηνής σε ζωντανές εμφανίσεις σε Ελλάδα και εξωτερικό αλλά και στη δισκογραφία.Έχει 4 προσωπικές δισκογραφικές δουλειές & 2 απονωμές πολυπλατινένιων δίσκων απο συμμετοχές.

    Spiros Koutsorinakis

    Γεννήθηκε στα Χανιά το 1986 και ξεκίνησε τις μουσικές σπουδές του στην κλασσική κιθάρα το 1990 στο Βενιζέλειο ωδείο Χανίων καθώς παρακολούθησε και ιδιαίτερα μαθήματα για αρκετά χρόνια με εξαίρετους καθηγητές.Έχει συμμετάσχει σε αρκετές δισκογραφικές δουλειές καθώς έχει συνεργαστεί με αρκετούς ποπ-ροκ-λαικούς και κρητικούς καλλιτέχνες.

    Spiros was born in Hania in 1986. He started studying classical guitar in 1990 at the Venizeleio Conservatory in Hania and also took private music lessons from acclaimed Greek musicians.

    He is very active in the recording industry and has performed and recorded with many pop-rock-folk and traditional Cretan artists.

    Δύο κιθαρίστες και φίλοι πολλών ετών ,θα μοιραστούν τις ορίτζιναλ συνθέσεις τους για κιθάρα. Η γνωριμία τους ξεκίνησε γύρω στο 2003 όπου ήταν κ η αφετηρία για πολλές ζωντανές εμφανίσεις σε διάφορους χώρους ανά την Κρήτη και αρκετές φορές με προσκεκλημένους όπως τον Αχιλλέα Περσίδη, τον Βασίλη Ρακοπουλο αλλά και άλλους αξιόλογους μουσικούς. Οι δύο μουσικοί έχοντας συνεργαστεί με σπουδαίους μουσικούς και τραγουδιστές της Ελλάδας, θα μας αποκαλύψουν συνθέσεις για ντουέτο κιθάρας, με έντονο το αυτοσχεδιαστικό στοιχείο, μέσα σε μεσογειακό ηχητικό περιβάλλον.
